Insomnia sits at the far end of Walking Street, close to the beach, and has built its reputation as the place you end up when everywhere else has closed. With doors staying open until 05:00, this is Walking Street’s true late-night option and a favorite among night owls who are not ready to call it quits.
What to Expect
The venue is large and purpose-built for clubbing. A spacious main dance floor dominates the interior, with elevated DJ booths, aggressive lighting rigs, and a sound system that is felt as much as heard. The layout keeps things flowing, with bars positioned so you can grab a drink without completely abandoning the dance floor.
Music is heavily EDM-focused. Expect progressive house, bass house, and the occasional harder-edged set depending on who is behind the decks. Guest DJs from Bangkok and beyond make regular appearances, particularly on weekends and holidays.
The crowd tends to arrive late. Before midnight, Insomnia can feel half-empty, which is normal. The real energy builds from 01:00 onward as people migrate from other venues. By 02:00 to 03:00, the club is usually at its peak and the atmosphere is electric.
Drink Prices
Bottles of beer go for around 160 to 180 THB. Cocktails sit in the 250 to 350 THB range. Bucket specials are a common option and offer decent value, running roughly 500 to 800 THB depending on what you order. There is generally no cover charge on standard nights, but themed events or holiday parties may carry a small entry fee.
Tips
Do not show up at 22:00 expecting a packed house. Insomnia is a late-night venue and it operates accordingly. Plan your evening so that Insomnia is your last stop, not your first.
The far end of Walking Street is slightly less hectic than the middle section, so the walk there is part of the experience. Songthaews and motorbike taxis are available nearby for the ride home when you finally emerge at dawn.
Stay aware of your surroundings later in the night. The later it gets, the more intoxicated the crowd becomes, and things can occasionally get rowdy. Staff generally handle situations well, but common sense goes a long way.
Venues on Walking Street can change status without much warning. Insomnia has been a consistent presence, but checking recent reviews or asking around before heading out is always a smart move, particularly during quieter months.
