Overview
Wongamat Beach is widely considered the best beach in the greater Pattaya area. Located in North Pattaya, just beyond Naklua, this stretch of golden sand is cleaner, quieter, and more scenic than Pattaya Beach — and most tourists never find it.
The area has transformed into Pattaya’s most exclusive residential neighborhood, lined with luxury condominiums and five-star resorts like the Centara Grand Mirage and Mövenpick Siam Hotel.
The Beach
Unlike the bustling Pattaya Beach, Wongamat offers a genuinely pleasant beach experience. The water is clearer, the sand is softer, and there’s enough space to actually relax. Beach chairs and umbrellas are available from vendors, and the atmosphere is closer to a resort island than a party city.
The beach stretches about 800 meters and faces west, making it one of the best sunset spots in Pattaya.
Where to Stay
Wongamat is home to some of Pattaya’s finest hotels. The Centara Grand Mirage Beach Resort is the standout — a massive resort complex with direct beach access, multiple pools, and a lazy river. The area also has excellent condo rentals for longer stays.
Dining & Nightlife
The neighborhood is quieter than central Pattaya, which is the point. You’ll find upscale Thai and international restaurants, beach clubs, and wine bars rather than go-go bars and beer gardens. The Roof Sky Bar at Siam@Siam is a short ride away.
Who It’s For
Wongamat is ideal for couples, families, and travelers who want the convenience of Pattaya without the chaos. You’re a 10-minute ride from Walking Street but a world away from the noise.
Getting There
Wongamat is about 5 km north of central Pattaya. Grab or a motorbike taxi from the city center costs 60-100 THB. Baht buses along Naklua Road also pass through the area.
